World Environment Day 2024

Today is World Environment Day. Celebrated annually, it encourages us all to be more aware of the need to protect the environment.

This year’s theme is "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience." It's about bringing back healthy land, preventing deserts from growing and dealing with water shortages. Whilst the theme is hugely important, you may be wondering why we, a heat pump company, are talking about it today.

Well, World Environment Day isn’t just about the theme chosen for the year. It’s a chance for us all to focus our attention on the world in which we live and the actions we can take to protect and restore the environment upon which we all depend.

Here at Thermly, we’re on a mission to move more of us towards sustainable energy choices. By changing the way we heat our homes, we can significantly reduce the reliance on carbon-emitting fossil fuels and instead heat our homes and water with a far more energy efficient technology: heat pumps.

And our mission is supercharged: the UK Government is working towards a net zero target by 2050, with aims to install 600,000 heat pumps each year by 2028. To help meet this ambition, we must make it super simple for homeowners to install a heat pump.

We’re making speedy progress in our mission to change the way we heat buildings. In the last 6 weeks alone, we have:

• Announced an additional £1,000 for the first 20 homeowners installing a heat pump using our platform

• Partnered with Lendology to undertake consumer research to further understand how we can better engage householders and provide them with the services they need to transition to more sustainable solutions
